Gawad Urian just released the list of nominees for 2022


The Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino has unveiled its nominees for the 2022 Gawad Urian Awards.

“On The Job: The Missing 8,” directed by Erik Matti, received the most nominations at 12 including Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Dennis Trillo and Dante Rivero) and Best Actor. 

John Arcilla, the first Filipino to win the Best Actor award at the Venice Film Festival, is likewise nominated at the Urian in the same category for "On The Job" as well as Best Supporting Actor for "Big Night!" and "A Hard Day."

Joining him are Kapuso actors Paolo Contis for “A Faraway Land,” John Lloyd Cruz for “Historya ni Ha,” and Dingdong Dantes for “A Hard Day.”

Japanese actor Shogen is also nominated for starring in Brillante Mendoza’s biographical film “Gensan Punch.”

Meanwhile, animator, filmmaker, cartoonist, and painter Roque “Roxlee” Federizon Lee is the recipient of the Natatanging Gawad Urian, an equivalent to a lifetime achievement award.

Now on its 45th edition, the top award-giving body celebrates the best in Philippine cinema. The awarding ceremony will take place on October 27.
