Here are 5 things to know about the Camp Big Falcon set of 'Voltes V: Legacy'

Aside from its highly praised CGI and special effects, "Voltes V: Legacy" also poured a lot of love in constructing its set for Camp Big Falcon.

As seen in Nelson Canlas's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, GMA Integrated News visited the set over a year ago while the cast and crew were shooting the series.

Nelson gave the viewers a tour of the set and showed some behind-the-scenes clips for the very first time.

Just how amazing is Camp Big Falcon? Here are five interesting facts to help us understand all the hard work put into creating it.

1. The set is the size of four full basketball courts

As previously shared, the set is as large as four full basketball courts combined.

Even "Voltes V: Legacy" director Mark Reyes, who has handled fantasy projects before, admitted that he got overwhelmed by its size.

"I'm used to seeing set na malalaki from 'Encantadia' but this one is particularly special kasi nga its almost a 360 degree set. I have shots coming from the corridor all the way to the control room," he said.

2. It set used thousands of LED lights

Lighting is of course important, not just for shooting purposes but also to capture the real aesthetic of a facility like Camp Big Falcon.

The set used thousands of LED lights, which were further enhanced with graphic animation in post-production.

"Siyempre we have to upgrade our level when it comes to the modern audience," Direk Mark said.

3. It was designed for three months using LEGO pieces

Direk Mark and the production team used LEGO pieces to design the set.

Due to the pandemic, it took them around three months to finish it.

4. The cast and crew got teary-eyed the first time they entered the set

The cast and crew of "Voltes V: Legacy" could not help but become emotional when the first set foot on Camp Big Falcon.

According to them, it felt like they entered the world of the anime itself.

5. The hydraulic mechanism for the Voltes V team's conveyor seats cost hundreds of thousands of pesos

Another reason why the set is something to be proud of are the conveyor seats used by the Voltes V pilots to reach their machines.

It operates using a hydraulic mechanism that costs hundreds of thousands of pesos.

After seeing Steve, Big Bert, Little Jon, Mark, and Jamie smoothly ride the launch conveyors in Episode 1, it's all worth it!

"Voltes V: Legacy" airs weekdays on GMA Telebabad at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." It is also livestreamed on YouTube and GMANetwork.com/KapusoStream.
