Jessica Soho asks Boy Abunda: 'Takot ka bang malaos?' TV host answers
Just in time for his birthday celebration, Boy Abunda’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” had a special twist and invited Jessica Soho over to interview the King of Talk himself!
In the episode, Jessica asked the celebrant, “Takot ka bang malaos?”
[Are you afraid of becoming irrelevant?]
“Dati takot na takot akong malaos, pero hindi na masyado,” Boy answered.
[I used to be really scared of becoming irrelevant, but not so much anymore.]
He teased that he is currently working on a book and “ito ‘yung chapter na sinusulat ko.” [This is the chapter I'm writing.]
“The one immutable law in the business is that nothing lasts forever. We will all go,” Boy said.
“Pero less ‘yung sakit ng pagiging laos in the context of the fame business kung panghahawakan mo sa sarili mo ‘yung worth mo,” he continued.
[But the pain of becoming irrelevant in the context of the fame business lessens if you hold onto your self-worth.]
In the same interview, Boy was asked what he would tell his 34-year-old self.
In response, he said, “Be healthy, be happy, and be sexy. And do not ever be afraid.”
It seems like Boy just couldn’t let go of his TV host side, so he threw the question back to Jessica.
“What will you tell your 20-year-old self?” He asked.
“Relax ka lang. Masyado kang serious. Ever since, serious student din ako, Boy, katulad mo. Parang lahat, sineseryoso, kahit ‘yung mga simpleng bagay, so sana mas relaxed ako na tao,” Jessica said.
[Relax. You're too serious. Ever since, I've been a serious student, too, Boy, just like you. It's like I take everything seriously, even the simplest things, so I hope I become a more relaxed person.]
In an interview on “24 Oras,” Tuesday, Boy shared his desire to do something for the LGBTQIA+ community, which is to initiate a Philippine LGBT census.
“Naniniwala ako that data is power. Kung malalaman natin ang LGBT people in this country, simple lang ‘yun, I will go to the senate and say, ‘Mga senador, pitong milyon po kami gusto niyo ho bang pakinggan kami?’” Boy said.
[I believe that data is power. If we can determine the number of LGBT people in this country, it's a straightforward matter. I will go to the Senate and say, "Senators, we are seven million, do you want to listen to us?"]
Boy returned to GMA Network in December 2022, and vowed that he “will commit to working hard, to doing the best I can to be able to deliver the best entertainment [and] shows that I am going to do with GMA-7.”
