Michael V. defends Jo Koy’s Golden Globes jokes
Michael V. has given his two cents on Jo Koy’s viral jokes at the Golden Globe Awards.
On X (formerly Twitter), Bitoy described Jo Koy's jokes as "funny, direct, and pretty much self-explanatory."
"The last thing [he] should be doing is trying to explain it to people who purposely choose not to understand and appreciate them," he added tagging the beleaguered Filipino-American stand-up comic.
Much was riding on Jo Koy, who was announced to host the recently concluded Golden Globes just 10 days before the gig. He was making history as the first Filipino-American to host the prestigious ceremony after all.
But Jo Koy’s jokes landed flat with an audience filled with Hollywood's A-listers and respectable personalities, notably the ones about Taylor Swift and the “Barbie” movie.
In his first interview after the ceremony, Jo Koy responded to the criticism and said that admitted he felt bad.
He later on defended his jokes in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, saying he “didn’t understand the Taylor [Swift] tiff” and that “There’s no ill intent in that joke.”
The comedian also said that people criticizing him for his “Barbie” joke do not "understand who I am as a person."
Jo Koy’s Golden Globes jokes are funny, direct and pretty much self-explanatory.
