Dingdong Dantes in tears after watching 'Firefly'

Even Dingdong Dantes was not immune to the magic of “Firefly.”

The Kapuso Primetime King was able to catch the film at the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Hollywood, California.

GMA Public Affairs was able to capture Dingdong’s reaction to the film and shared the clip on Instagram. As the credits rolled, Dingdong was visibly in tears and clapped for the film, its actress Ysabel Ortega, and GMA Network executives, who were also present.

In his own Instagram post, Dingdong said he was excited to watch Metro Manila Film Festival entries “which I missed seeing in Manila.”

Firefly” is directed by Zig Dulay and produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs.

It is a coming-of-age magical realism drama about TonTon (Euwenn Mikaell Aleta) who searches for the mythical island described in his mother's bedtime stories. Dingdong had a special role in the film as the adult TonTon, who grew up to be a writer.

More stars include Alessandra De Rossi, Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Max Collins, Yayo Aguila, Cherry Pie Picache, and Epy Quizon.

The film won the MMFF Best Picture award and Euwenn was named Best Child Actor.

Dingdong was the star of another MMFF entry “Rewind,” alongside wife Marian Rivera. It is the first Filipino movie to earn more than P900 million at the worldwide box office.
