Maui Taylor shares about being a sexy icon and her transition to kontrabida roles
Maui Taylor guested on Mikee Quintos's show, "Lutong Bahay," where she got to talk about the seasons of her career, from being a "sexy icon" to her eventual transition to kontrabida roles.
Mikee and Kuya Dudut visited Maui and her nephew, Raffy, for the show's episode on Monday, where they cooked caldereta and Pinoy-style spaghetti.
While sampling the dishes they cooked, Mikee asked the actress and former Viva Hot Babe how she feels about being a "sexy icon."
According to Maui, she's fine with being considered a sexy icon, adding that it's something that one cannot avoid anyway.
"Okay lang, congratulations guys. It's more of hindi maiiwasan 'yun eh, kasi babae nga na nakabihis nang balot na balot pinagpapantasyahan eh, what more kami na nag-s-sexy?" she said
She also noted that she has been taking on kontrabida roles with GMA Network for a while now.
"Now talagang transitioning na to different roles, like eto, kontrabida na nga ako sa GMA for the longest time. Puro kontrabida na talaga, so nag-t-transition na rin talaga."
When asked if her two sons have any idea about her career, she shared that at their age, they only know that she is an actress.
"Sasabihin lang nila, 'Mommy's an actress.' Feeling ko wala pa silang nakikita, but I'm ready when the time comes kasi 'yung eldest ko 11 na eh. Naku, konti na lang 'yan magtatanong na 'yan," she said.
Maui is set to return to "Lolong" Season 2, which will premiere on GMA Prime in January 2025. In the series, she plays the role of Dolores Baticusin.
Per the actress, it's quite easy for her to portray the role of a kontrabida.
"Feeling ko lahat naman tayo may sarili tayong pagka-kontrabida sa loob natin, may sarili tayong kulo eh, kailangan mo lang siyang ilabas. At the same time, syempre 'yung character mo, kailangan mo i-internalize," she said.
"Lolong" Season 2 takes place four years after the first season and stars Ruru Madrid as the titular character Lolong, now a masked hero. Other cast members include John Arcilla, Shaira Diaz, Rochelle Pangilinan, Paul Salas, Klea Pineda, Rocco Nacino, Martin Del Rosario, and more.
Catch "Lutong Bahay" on weekdays at 5:45 p.m. on GTV.
