Jennylyn Mercado laughs at her old 'nene' videos: 'Grabe, ang nipis ng kilay ko dito'

Jennylyn Mercado could not help but burst into laughter as she watched her old videos.

In a video on GMA Network’s YouTube channel, the Kapuso Ultimate Star reacted to clips from the early days of her career.

Jennylyn was already laughing when the first video from her “Starstruck” days was played. “Grabe, ang nipis ng kilay ko dito. One line, ganyan.”

Then when she had to do a ketchup commercial for the reality talent search, the actress joked that this was why no brands reached out to her. “Syempre, gagawin natin ang lahat para manalo diyan sa ‘Starstruck.’”

Jennylyn also watched her old dance numbers, and watched her first TV appearance before “Starstruck,” in which she acted alongside John Lloyd Cruz for a teleserye.

“Akala ko naman extra lang ako, ‘yung maglalakad lang ako, ganyan, tapos mag-hi or nabangga lang. Hindi ko naman [alam] na pagseselosan pala ‘ko ni Bea [Alonzo] dito.”

After watching her videos, Jennylyn said she got goosebumps seeing what she looked like back then.

She also looked back on her “octopus hair” which became popular because of her, where the top part of the hair is cut short and the bottom is longer.

“Ang galing ko palang sumayaw ‘no,” she laughed. “Medyo nakaka-cringe lang ‘yung sa ‘Starstruck’ kasi parang, ano ba ‘yan. Sayaw sayaw, neneng-nene pa, wala pang alam gawin.”

“Kasi naman nung time na ‘to nung nag-audition, pinilit lang ako ng nanay ko,” she added. “Pero buti nalang nakinig ako kasi kung di ako nakinig diba, hindi niyo ‘ko makikita ngayon.”

Jennylyn renewed her contract with GMA Network on Tuesday.

She and Dennis will be sharing the screen in “Everything About My Wife,” which premieres in cinemas on February 26.
