Boobay clarifies past ‘pikunan’ with Karen Delos Reyes

Boobay made it clear that she and Karen Delos Reyes are now good friends after a heated exchange on “Extra Challenge” 12 years ago.

On Friday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Boobay said the brief clash was real, which she also did not expect.

“Pero bago ko po sagutin, sabihin ko lang, OK naman, OK na kami. We’re OK. We’re super OK,” Boobay said.

According to the comedian, the clash between them was not intentional, and she just wanted to recreate Karen’s iconic '90s commercial.

“Parang fi-need ko lang siya do’n sa apelyido niya kasi ‘di ba sumikat siya sa commercial na ‘yong lolo niya nagkamali sa pangalan niya. ‘Yung Gina-Karen, ganiyan. So ako, tin-ry ko naman na i-feed siya sa apelyido naman. So ang in-expect ko na sasabihin niya, ‘Delos Reyes po,’” Boobay said.

But Karen was not happy and got annoyed by Boobay’s banter.

“Eh ‘yun ‘yung first break ko din. So sabi ko, ‘Ay hindi ako papayag! Lalaban ako,’” Boobay said.

She recalled Marian Rivera was also there and told her, “Ano ka lang, kalmado ka lang.”

Boobay currently hosts “The Boobay and Tekla Show” with Tekla, which is now on its seventh anniversary.
