Ashley Ortega on claims that she's unpopular: 'I know my worth as an actress'

Ashley Ortega on claims that she's unpopular: 'I know my worth as an actress'

Ashley Ortega is no stranger to receiving hate online, even previously laughing off claims that she's a "starlet" despite being in the showbiz industry for 12 years.

During her guesting on "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" on Monday, the Sparkle star addressed the issue of being referred to as an unpopular actress.

"We can't really control the judgment of people towards you. But me kasi, I know my worth as an actress, I know what I am capable of and as long as alam kong ginagawa ko ang trabaho ko, I wouldn't question myself," Ashley said.

The actress admitted that she was affected by that remark at first but chose to shrug it off because of the praises she received from many people.

"I don't have to prove anything to them kasi hindi naman sila 'yung nagbibigay ng project sa akin, hindi naman sila 'yung bumubuhay sa akin," she said, adding that she knows that she always "gives justice" to all the roles that are given to her.

Ashley previously starred in "Pulang Araw" as Sister Manuela Apolonio, a nun who was forced to become a comfort woman during the Japanese occupation in the Philippines.

In the same interview, Ashley admitted her relationship with Mavy Legaspi.

The two sparked dating rumors earlier in January after being spotted together in Cebu for the Sinulog Festival.
