Ruru Madrid proud of how Bianca Umali handled alleged 'Mananambal' billing issue

Ruru Madrid has expressed his support and pride for his girlfriend, Bianca Umali, for how she handled herself during the press conference of her movie with Nora Aunor, "Mananambal," where she was asked about an alleged billing issue.

In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras" Friday, Ruru shared that Bianca set a standard for how she handled the situation.

"Sabi ko nga parang nag-set siya ng standard sa lahat ng mga actors na natatakot sumagot sa mga ganoong klaseng tanong. Basta naman totoo ang sinasabi mo at hindi ka nagsisinungaling bakit ka naman matatakot?" he said.

He agreed that she handled the situation well, adding, "And very respectful as well, so 'yun 'yung sobrang napa-proud ako sa kaniya."

In Bianca's GMA Integrated News interview with Nelson Canlas, which aired on "24 Oras" Thursday, she said that she was shocked when asked about the alleged billing issue.

“I was shocked. It became an emotional moment for me at some point. But then, in my heart and in my mind, I knew that the best way to handle it was to be the most professional person in the room,” Bianca said.

She added that working with Nora Aunor, the Superstar and National Artist, is already an honor and is all that she needed.

“Everything else that comes from it, the billing, even the award that I won, is already a bonus na lang."

In 2024, Bianca won the Best Dramatic Actress award at the Jinseo International Film Festival in Japan for her role in "Mananambal."

The horror film is coming to Philippine cinemas on February 19.

Meanwhile, Ruru currently stars in "Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan" alongside Shaira Diaz, John Arcilla, Rochelle Pangilinan, Paul Salas, and many more.

It airs weekdays on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
