Darren Espanto, Julie Anne San Jose to sing new version of 'Pinoy Big Brother' theme song

Julie Anne San Jose and Darren Espanto have teamed up for the new version of the “Pinoy Big Brother” theme song, “Sikat Ang Pinoy!”

The exciting news was revealed on Saturday night during the media conference for “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition Collab.”

“Ate Julie and I are so honored to be part of this,” Darren said.

Julie Anne added, "And it’s also a dream come true for everybody. Siguro sa part din ng artists because we have been waiting for this moment na talagang mag-collaborate ang GMA artists and ABS-CBN artists."

The singers are humbled by the fact that “Sikat Ang Pinoy,” written by Jonathan Manalo, is already 19 years old. The first and original version was performed by Toni Gonzaga and Sam Milby.

“It’s truly an honor to be singing one of his creations na bibigyan namin ng bagong flavor,” Julie Anne said.

Darren added that their take is "more modern."

“There’s a new sound to it, and siyempre iba ‘yung pakiramdam na ito na, ‘yung bagong henerasyon na ‘yung makakarinig sa kantang ito,” he said.

The new version of “Sikat Ang Pinoy” will be released on March 9, the same day that "Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition Collab" will start airing on GMA Network.

Serving as hosts for this season are Gabbi Garcia, Mavy Legaspi, Robi Domingo, Bianca Gonzalez, Enchong Dee, Kim Chiu, Melai Cantiveros, and Alexa Ilacad.

The major collaboration is in celebration of the show's 20th anniversary this 2025. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
