Matteo Guidicelli shares preview of visit to West Philippine Sea for 'Philippine Defenders'

Matteo Guidicelli shared a short preview of his visit to Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea for his upcoming documentary, "Philippine Defenders."

In the preview, which aired in "24 Oras" Friday, Matteo can first be seen in Puerto Princesa where their C-295 aircraft landed to refuel.

"May kaunting briefing kami rito before we take off to Pag-asa Island. We're gonna be walking around Pag-asa, makikita po natin ang main airstrip doon at makakausap din natin ang ating mga iba't ibang tropa,  stationed po sila dun, and from there, itotour po natin 'yung iba't ibang mga barracks nila," the actor and Philippine Army reservist said.

"Sabi nila makikita daw natin ang mga Chinese vessels na a few nautical miles away from the island," he added.

While aboard the aircraft, Matteo showed the Chinese vessels scattered in the West Philippine Sea.

"So you can see there's already the Chinese Coast Guard just a few I guess kilometers away from Pag-asa [Island]" he said.

Matteo got to see the several Chinese vessels closer as they landed on Pag-asa Island and toured the area. One of his companions confirmed that the Chinese vessels never leave the area.

Previously, Matteo shared in a virtual media interview about his "mind-blowing" visit to the West Philippine Sea.

"It's very difficult to believe na these large Chinese vessels are slowly creeping up in our shores and our men and women in uniform are there establishing their presence," Matteo had said.

"Philippine Defenders" is a special documentary presented by GMA Public Affairs that aims to salute the true heroes of the nation: the soldiers who are ready to risk their lives for freedom.

It will air on GMA Network this Saturday, May 17, at 3:15 p.m.
