Lotlot De Leon marks 40 days since Nora Aunor’s death

Lotlot De Leon marks 40 days since Nora Aunor’s death

It’s been 40 days since Nora Aunor passed away.

On Instagram, her daughter Lotlot De Leon shared photos of their family visiting Nora’s grave at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City, to mark the 40th day since her passing.

“It’s been 40 days since you left us, but not a single day goes by without us thinking of you,” Lotlot began.

Reflecting on the priest’s message about the meaning of love during the Mass, the actress shared that she couldn’t help but remember what her mother once told her and her sister, Matet De Leon.

“I couldn’t help but remember when you told me and Matet, ‘Magmahalan kayong lima, ha.’ Ma, hanggang ngayon, yang bilin mo—susundin at isasabuhay namin. Sure na sure naman ’yan,” she said.

“The weather was kind—warm, but the breeze carried a gentle peace that comforted us. I know this is what you would’ve wanted—simple and solemn,” Lotlot added.

The actress admitted things are still difficult, as there are moments when she has so much to say but can’t find the words. Yet whenever she thinks of Nora and knows she’s now in a better place, she somehow finds a sense of peace.

Ending her post, Lotlot said that they will get through all of this because they always carry her in their hearts.

“Rest now, Mommy. Kakayanin namin ‘to. Kaya namin—dahil dala-dala ka pa rin namin sa puso namin.  Love you ma,” she added.

Lotlot and her sister, Matet, recently paid tribute to Aunor on what would have been her 72nd birthday on May 21.

The National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts passed away on April 16 at the age of 71. According to her son, Ian De Leon, she died of acute respiratory failure.

She was honored with a state necrological service and was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on April 22.

The Philippines continues to mourn and pay tribute to the one and only Superstar through initiatives like film viewings. A local bakery has also named a pastry after her.

Meanwhile, Lotlot has asked for privacy and vowed to protect Aunor's dignity amid the family's grieving.
