'Green Bones' screened for over 100 deaf students

“Green Bones” was screened for over than 100 deaf students of the Bagong Silang Elementary and High School!

The special screening was made possible by the Deaf and Terp Corporation, the film’s sign language instructors.

As seen in an Instagram video by GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures, the students teared up at the film and gave it applause.

“Through Filipino Sign Language, the film opened its doors to them: carrying messages of hope, love, and redemption,” GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures said on Instagram.

In “Green Bones,” lead actor Dennis Trillo played notorious criminal Domingo Zamora. He had to study Filipino Sign Language for the role, as the character used this to communicate with his Deaf niece and with fellow Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

The film, produced by GMA Pictures, is directed by Zig Dulay based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs.

“Green Bones” bagged several awards from the Metro Manila Film Festival in 2024, the 8th Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards (EDDYS Awards) in July, and FAMAS in August.

The film is streaming on Netflix.
