Vice Ganda apologizes for ‘It’s Showtime’ boo-boos, doubles contestant’s cash prize

Vice Ganda owned up to a series of mishaps during the “Laro Laro Pick” segment of “It’s Showtime” on Saturday, turning the mistakes into an emotional moment of generosity for one contestant.

Before the jackpot round of the game, the four remaining players were asked to choose among powder sprays, with the pink one signaling the winner.

However, when Teddy Corpuz picked the supposed pink spray, it failed to release any powder. The other three sprays, handled by two contestants and co-host Karylle, produced blue powder.

We have to stay true to the mechanics,” Vice said.

“How can we declare him as the winner eh wala namang lumabas na pink?”

Vice decided that they will take a brief pause and restart the selection round with a different setup.

After the commercial break, the contestants were presented with four lightsticks, with the longest stick determining the winner.

Kath, a contestant from Bulacan, emerged victorious and was given the choice to play for a jackpot of P600,000 or settle for a guaranteed P50,000 during the “Pot or Li-Pot” round.

She chose the safe option, but Vice still read the jackpot question: “Ano ang alyas o pen name ng bayaning si Gregorio del Pilar na mula sa binalasang mga letra ng kaniyang apelyido?”

The answer card revealed “Plaridel,” a pseudonym used by Marcelo H. del Pilar, not Gregorio.

Realizing the mistake, Vice immediately apologized.

I would like to apologize. Mali ‘yung tanong.”

To make up for the error, Vice doubled Kath’s cash prize, raising it from P50,000 to P100,000. Kath shared that she plans to use the money to help her grandmother, who is confined at Hagonoy Public Hospital.

Ito ay gawa na ng katarantahan o kung ano man, but still, it’s not acceptable. I am very, very sorry. Hiyang-hiya po ako sa inyo.”
