Alden Richards reflects on one of his ‘most difficult rides so far’: ‘I almost gave up’

Alden Richards experienced one of his “most difficult [rides] so far” at the Passo dello Stelvio.

On Instagram, the Asia’s Multimedia Star shared a reel of his cycling journey in the picturesque Italian Alps, where professional cyclists, such as athlete Tadej Poga?ar, usually train.

“No flat roads, only climbs, with gradients [of a] minimum of 4% and a maximum of 16% for 31km,” Alden described.

According to the “Hello, Love, Again” actor, the uphill ride was no easy feat.

“I almost gave up,” he said. “Lungs struggling, legs collapsing, thoughts in conflict, but then I realized why I started this journey.”

“These are moments I can call my own, my bike, my endurance, my skills, my climbs,” he added.

Alden also said that when it comes to his fitness pursuits, his only competitor is himself and “no one else.”

“Stelvio, you’ve been very painful, but you taught me a lot. I will come back for you…better and stronger!” he said.

He ended his post by revealing that after crossing the finish line, he “cried in silence while eating a hotdog sandwich.”

In August, Alden ticked off his first 100-kilometer ride.

In July, Alden officially enrolled in a flight school to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot.

Alden currently hosts the dancing competition "Stars on the Floor," which airs Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. on GMA Network.
