Rocco Nacino wins debut pro wrestling match

Rocco Nacino just made his professional wrestling debut, emerging victorious against his opponent, Thiago "The Gym Bro" Santiago.

According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras" Monday, the Sparkle star shared that the experience was a dream come true.

Dream come true na maka-experience ng ganito pero syempre kailangan may training din 'to," said Rocco, who is also a trained mixed martial artist and jiu jitsu athlete.

"So sa match na ito I made sure na makapag-prepare ako, makapag-training, matutong bumagsak nang tama, and, of course, magkaroon ng trust sa mga partners dito."

Rocco won against Thiago with his frogsplash move. More than the action, however, the actor underscored the important message behind his victory.

"Pinakita ko na kailangan nating mag-stand up sa mga bullies. Wag nating hahayaan na tapak-tapakan nila 'yung pride natin, ang dream natin, kaya kanina pinakita ko ang redemption sa pag-stand up sa mga bullies," he said.

Rocco's foray into pro wrestling started out as a prank for his wife, Melissa Gohing.

But while Melissa had told Rocco that his first match should be his last, the actor seems to think otherwise.

"Panay sabi niya 'last mo na 'yan ah,' pero base sa sigaw ng mga tao, mukhang babalik pa 'ko rito," he quipped.

Rocco recently starred in "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre," playing the role of  Aquil, the husband of Danaya (Sanya Lopez) who died along with their daughter Gaiea (Cassy Lavarias).
