Carla Abellana ‘outraged' by flood control scandal: 'Dapat po may makulong talaga'

Carla Abellana expressed her outrage over the issue of anomalous infrastructure and flood control projects unfolding in the Philippine government.

On Thursday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the Kapuso actress detailed her reaction to the issues, noting that she has only recently experienced this level of fury.

“I'm outraged sa totoo lang po. Galit na galit po ako,” she said.

Carla said that she is an obedient taxpayer who pays a significant amount in taxes.

“Masakit po ‘yun for us. Whether maliit lang po o malaki ‘yung taxes na binabayaran niyo, the fact na nagbabayad po kayo ng taxes, dapat magalit po kayo. All the more for us, kasi grabe po ‘yung—eagle eyes po sila sa atin eh. In terms of taxes, wala po tayong lusot,” she said.

Carla revealed the personal toll of taxation, admitting that she sometimes cries when it is time to pay.

“The fact na nakikita po natin kung saan napupunta, parang ang hirap pong hindi kayo magalit,” she said.

Addressing what she believes should be the resolution of the investigation, Carla called for definitive action.

“Dapat po may makulong talaga. Dapat po may managot. Hindi lang po sila haharap sa isang hearing or pag-uusap or investigation. There has to be accountability and there has to be punishment po talaga,” she said.

Carla also expressed frustration that the nation often “fall[s] short” on administering punishment.

“Parang nga po tayo nanonood ng teleserye kapag nanonood po tayo ng Blue Ribbon Committee, ng hearing, ng kung ano-ano. Pero parang it's a cycle. Paulit-ulit lang po siya. Parang wala pong nare-resolve,” she said.

When asked if she has any interest in entering politics, Carla confessed that she is sometimes tempted by the idea.

“Kasi for the wrong reasons. Kasi sa totoo lang, sa lahat po ng kalokohang nangyayari po sa bansa natin, sa politics pa lang po. Parang ang dali pong sabihin, gusto ko na ring mag-politics because I want to make as much as they're making. Gusto ko rin ng lavish lifestyle. Gusto ko rin mag-travel. Gusto ko rin ng mga bilyon-bilyon. For the wrong reasons,” she said.

She admitted that as a human being, such temptation is powerful.

“But then, I have integrity. May konsensya po ako. I cannot, I do not see myself in politics. And obviously, ayoko naman po kung sakaling papasok ng politics for the wrong reasons po,” Carla said.

Carla also uses her voice for the animals.

She often helps rescue and adopt dogs, including one that was run over by a car in NLEX last year.

Carla currently stars in the movie “Selda Tres” with JM De Guzman, Cesar Montano, and more.

She also previously starred in “Widows’ War,” which aired its finale in January.

In July, she launched her own handmade goods brand, Artisana.
