Alden Richards bares challenges in debut directorial job 'Out of Order'
Alden Richards got real about the challenges he encountered while working on his first-ever directorial job, "Out of Order."
In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras" Monday, the Asia's Multimedia Star shared that the most challenging aspect of being a director is making his actors trust him.
"Since this is my debut as a director, binuhat nila ako lahat. Nagbuhatan kami lahat dito sa pelikula," he said.
"I read the script five times. 'Di ako makatulog sa gabi. Everyone looks to you in terms of command, I told myself, 'Parang dapat hindi mo masyadong ginagawang mental lahat, just go with it.'"
One of the preparations Alden and his team had to do for the film was an immersion at the Quezon City Hall of Justice.
"Nag-immerse kami. I went to the QC Hall of Justice to sit down, actually see litigations happening every day for one wee, and then we got lawyers na writer, lawyers by profession pero nagsusulat," he said.
Per Alden, his tendency to be finicky came out while working on the film, noting, "Super. Ultimo sa smallest detail ng art, ng production design, hindi nakatilt nang maayos 'yung tasa, may blind statue na may hawak na weighing scale, hindi pantay 'yung weighing scale."
He also shared his hope for the film to stir the emotions of viewers.
"May favorite quote ako lately. Justice is not blind eh, but it's being blinded by people in power, by whoever that can blind justice," he added.
"Out of Order" held a special screening on Sunday, which was attended by Sparkle GMA Arist Center First Vice President Joy Marcelo and Kapuso stars Barbie Forteza, Betong Sumaya, and Matt Lozano, among others.
Aside from directing the film, Alden also stars in it, alongside Nonie Buencamino and Heaven Peralejo..
GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes also has a special appearance in the film.
"Out of Order" will start streaming on Netflix on October 2.
Per Netflix, the film follows the story of "a struggling lawyer who gets his big break after his estranged father asks for legal help when he's put on trial for a murder he can't remember committing."
"Out of Order" previously premiered at the 2025 Jagran Film Festival in India in September and at the competition section of the third Da Nang Asian Film Festival in Vietnam in June.
