Radio show 'Boys Night Out' goes off air after 19 years

Magic 89.9’s ‘Boys Night Out’ goes off air after 19 years

Magic 89.9’s “Boys Night Out” (“BNO”) has gone off air after 19 years after what appears to be tensions between the hosts and the station’s new management.

In a joint Instagram post from hosts Sam YG, Tony Toni, Slick Rick, Tin Gamboa, and Gino Quillamor, they thanked their "BNO" family as they bid goodbye to 19 "unforgettable" years.

"Over the years, BNO has been more than a radio program—it became a community where we’ve been vocal, inclusive, and, in the later years, a safe space for many," they said.

They added that they "do not condone toxic superiors, power-tripping, or division in the very workplace we called home for nearly two decades."

"What we celebrate instead is the love, loyalty, and connection you’ve given us. This is not goodbye—the spirit of Boys’ Night Out continues to live on through each of you, and together we will carry it into the future."

They said that the show's new management did not allow them one last show, which was supposed to take place on Thursday, October 2.

In an Instagram Reel, an emotional Tin said the show was put on preventative suspension for what she said on air on Monday. With this, their final radio show was aired on Tuesday night.

“To Slick and Tones, I’m sorry for all the bombs I dropped that led to this. You both deserved a chance to say thank you to all the listeners for the last 19 years they spent with you. You both deserve the world, but instead you got this,” Tin said.

She also apologized to their listeners for not being able to say a proper goodbye, but thanked them for making “BNO” a part of their lives.

“I hope you know how much you mean to all of us, and how thankful we all are for all the years you’ve stuck by us—both through the show, and as individuals. You guys allowed us to live our dream lives, and for that we will be forever grateful,” she added.

In his own statement, Sam called his co-hosts "legends - the hardest working people I know!"

“[BNO] wasn't just any show, it was part of our lives. It was a bond built amongst DJs, partners and everyone single one of you who spent your evenings listening to us," Sam said. "Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means we’ll miss you until we meet again."

Meanwhile, Slick Rick took to Instagram Stories to clarify it was not because of politics. "It's more of the direction and managing style," he wrote.

"It will never be about politics," the DJ added. His Instagram Stories post was also reshared by the office BNO Instagram account.

GMA News Online has reached out to Magic 89.9 via Instagram, Messenger, and email for their side of the story and will update this story as soon as we hear back from them.

“BNO” is best known for their late night banter and jokes on Magic 89.9.
