Awra Briguela crowned first runner-up in Hiyas ng Silangan 2025
Awra Briguela just made a successful pageant debut.
The former child star was crowned the first runner-up in the Hiyas ng Silangan 2025 beauty pageant at the University of the East.
On Instagram, Awra shared some snaps from the pageant along and said she "couldn't be prouder of myself."
“1st runner up for a first timer is not bad at all," she said, adding she "only had three days to prepare for this pageant."
Awra admitted she was scared at first as she had zero experience in pageantry but she still chose to join because she wanted her advocacy to be heard loud and clear and straight from her.
“I’ve been judged. I’ve been bullied. Yet here I am standing stronger, prouder, and louder. I am living proof that no amount of bullying can silence a brave heart,” she said.
Awra also shared her advocacy which is to stop bullying in any form because “every person deserves to be respected, accepted, and loved.”
“Let’s use our voices not to hurt, but to heal. Together, we can build a world where kindness wins,” Awra wrote.
“I know what it feels like to be silenced that’s why I now speak for those who can’t. Silencing the bullies starts with speaking up for yourself. I’m not here to fight with words, I’m here to let my story silence every bully who once doubted me,” she added.
According to Awra, she had a hard time accepting the result. She was so close to the crown!
“But then I realized my true purpose in joining this pageant. I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason and if it’s meant for me, it will be,” she shared.
Despite having only three days to prepare for the pageant, Awra said she’s proud to have “made it happen.”
She also thanked her glam team and her friends who supported her in her journey, and expressed gratitude to herself.
“You are strong, talented, and brave. Please stop doubting yourself, because you were born to win. You are unique, beautiful, and smart and you deserve every bit of love and light coming your way,” she ended.
Awra is currently in her first year of college at UE, where she graduated from the school's high school program in July. That was yet another milestone for Awra, who took the opportunity back then to dedicate her achievement to Vice Ganda.
In 2023, Awra was detained by the Makati City police after her involvement in a brawl outside a Poblacion bar. After posting bail, she filed a counter-affidavit in connection with the complaints she faced.
