Gabbi Garcia says throwing hate online 'will never be okay': 'The effects on mental health are real'
The news of Emman Atienza's passing sparked conversations about online bullying and bashing.
One of the celebrities who expressed their opinion on social media was Gabbi Garcia.
“Throwing hate, bullying, trolling, and bashing online can cause a deep and lasting toll on a person. This will NEVER be okay,” the Kapuso It Girl said.
Gabbi said that the effects of such negativity on one’s mental health are real, and that many people are “already silently struggling with personal battles we don’t see.”
“Anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and sometimes even irreversible decisions,” she said. “It’s time to break this cycle of hate.”
“Imagine if we used these platforms not to tear each other down, but to lift each other up, with compassion, empathy, and understanding,” she added. “Words are powerful. Use them to uplift, not to destroy.”
On Friday, Kuya Kim Atienza announced the unfortunate news of his daughter Emman's "unexpected passing."
They described the 19-year-old content creator as someone who "wasn't afraid to share her own journey with mental health."
In what would be her last message on her Instagram broadcast channel, posted on September 1, Emman opened up about the pressures of social media.
