The New Minstrels singer Louie Reyes dies

Louie Reyes, one of the original members of Filipino vocal group The New Minstrels, has passed away.

Jazz singer Ivy Violan paid tribute to Louie on Facebook, where she said "The Philippine Music Industry celebrates the life of our dear Ms. LOUIE REYES. No good-byes just the best hello to a very very dear friend and colleague."

Iyv also mentioned Louie's husband Cesar dela Fuente and family, saying, "To Cesar and children and family hug."

In the comment section, Cesar simply said, "Today, I lost the love of my life.” 

As of writing, Louie’s cause of death has not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, Filipino filmmaker Joey Javier Reyes also paid tribute to the late singer, expressing sorrow over her passing.

“Our hearts are broken again today,” he said. “Sing high with the choir of angels who wait for you, Louie.”

“Your voice has shown us glimpses of heaven, so now you are home where our Father shall listen to the music that He has gifted your soul. You shall be missed,” he added.

The New Minstrels is the group behind the hits “Ikaw, Ako, Tayo’y Magkapatid,” “Smile,” and “I Don’t Love You Anymore,” among others.
