Celebrity breakups that shocked the nation in 2025

Is it fair to say 2025 is the year of the breakup? Look at our list and judge for yourself. 

While the year served copious amounts of viral moments and gave us a lot to be proud of, 2025 was also marred with breakups among well-loved celebrities that left the nation stunned. 

Before 2025 ends, here are eight celebrity breakups that made it to the headlines. 

1. Barbie Forteza and Jak Roberto

The breakup of Barbie Forteza and Jak Roberto welcomed us into 2025.

On January 2, the Kapuso Primetime Princess announced on Instagram that she and Jak had gone their separate ways after seven years of being together. 

After a heady season of festivities, the shocking breakup news grounded us back to reality.  

2. Sam Milby and Catriona Gray 

After nearly a year of speculation among fans and netizens, Sam Milby confirmed in February that he and the Miss Universe 2018 are “no longer together.”

Sam and Catriona revealed their relationship in 2020, and got engaged in 2023.

3. Jeraldine and Josh Blackman

In February, Jeraldine and Josh Blackman of the internet-famous Blackman family announced their separation.

Jeraldine shared the emotional news on Instagram, assuring followers that they remain on good terms and will continue to co-parent their adorable children, Jette and Nimo

In November, nearly a year after their split, Jeraldine hard launched her new boyfriend, fellow content creator Justin Leo. Shortly, after accounts in the name of The Blackman Family were changed to Jeraldine, Jeronimo & Jorjette, clearly ushering in a new era.

4. Mikee Quintos and Paul Salas

Another breakup that shocked netizens: Mikee Quintos and Paul Salas going their separate ways.

In April, the Kapuso star revealed in “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” that she and Paul are no longer together after three years of dating.

5. Kyline Alcantara and Kobe Paras

Kyline and Kobe’s breakup was so messy, his mother Jackie Forster had to step in for her son.

Breakup speculations followed the couple for a few months, until Jackie uploaded a video statement in April, confirming the breakup of the two young stars.

According to the formerly celebrity, Kyline and Kobe's relationship started to fall apart after their trip to the US. She also defended Kobe and denied the cheating allegations.

Shortly after, Sparkle issued a statement in behalf of Kyline saying she "would like to move on with this issue."    

6. Klea Pineda and Katrice Kierulf

After three years of dating, Katrice confirmed in a July “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” that she and Katrice Kierulf have gone separate ways.

According to the Kapuso actress, their breakup was a mutual decision between the two of them.

Following their breakup, Klea was often seen with Janella Salvador whom she worked with in the Cinemalaya film “Open Endings.”

7. Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto

Julia and Gerald’s split in September came as a surprise to many, including to their beloved fans. 

It was both their talent agencies, Star Magic and Viva, that confirmed the breakup with the former saying the two “have mutually decided to end their relationship" and the latter saying "the two have mutually and amicably parted ways for some time now."

Months before the announcement, Gerald shut down breakup rumors with Julia, saying “we’re okay.”

8. Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna

In November, Ellen Adarna sent shockwaves online after accusing her husband Derek Ramsay of cheating and revealing they were over.

In her days-long expose on social media, Ellen revealed they were no longer living together, shared screenshots of messages between Derek and another woman that were dated February 13, 2021, shortly after Ellen and Derek officially became a couple on February 4, and that she has connected with his other exes.
