Sofia Trazona to Alvin Aragon: 'I respect you kasi asawa ka ng nanay ko'
Sofia Trazona has addressed Alvin Aragon's remarks on religion and homosexuality which recently prompted an online storm.
In a vlog interview with Ogie Diaz, Sofia said she still respects Alvin, the husband of her mother, Izzy Trazona, but that does not change the fact that she was deeply hurt by his remarks.
“I respect you kasi asawa ka ng nanay ko, and hindi magbabago ‘yun,” she said. “Let’s just keep it that way kasi nasaktan na rin ako eh.”
“Kung gusto ko man siya idefend, mahihirapan ako, grabe niya rin i-condemn ang mga bakla,” she added. “Ang ironic naman na sa’kin manggagaling.”
Sofia said that when people judge her for her identity, she does not take it personally because she has a personal relationship with God.
“I believe na I’m only answerable to God alone, siya lang ang pwedeng mang-judge sakin,” she said.
“The word of God doesn’t condemn people, kasi mahal nga tayo ng Diyos,” she added.
Nonetheless, Sofia said she could not help but feel degraded by Alvin’s statements.
“Grabe naman ‘yung tingin sa amin,” she said. “Hindi naman kami nagnakaw. Hindi naman kami pumatay ng tao. Nagtatrabaho naman kami nang maayos. Wala naman kaming tinatapakan na ibang tao.”
In the same vlog, Sofia also opened up about her journey of moving out, her relationship with her biological father, and her relationship with Izzy since their issue surfaced in 2023.
“Kahit naman strong-willed yung faith ni mama, alam ko na tinuturing niya pa rin akong anak,” she said.
“Sadyang naghiwalay lang ‘yung landas namin dahil naging independent na nga rin ako,” she added.
In 2023, Izzy expressed her rejection of Sofia being a drag queen on social media, saying she only wanted to protect Andrei and her three other children from "going against the faith I have in Christ."
Meanwhile, Sofia has said that her biological father fully embraces her identity and that she is grateful for his incredible support. —Hermes Joy Tunac/JCB, GMA Integrated News
