Elijah Canlas, Cedrick Juan, more celebrities mourn Sue Prado
Various celebrities have paid tribute to indie actress Sue Prado, who died on April 14 at the age of 44.
On X, actor Elijah Canlas posted broken heart emojis. Sue played Elijah’s mother in the series, “Gameboys.”

Yasser Marta, who worked with Sue in “Desperada,” said in an Instagram Story, “Paalam Ate Sue! Mahal ka namin.”
Robb Guinto, who was also in “Desperada,” said on Instagram, “Ate Sue salamat sa mga advice and learning. Mahal ka namin!”
“Thank you Mama Miriam,” she added, and signed, “Brenda.”
On Facebook, Cedrick Juan said that since he entered film in 2016 through their film “Oro,” Sue has been one of the actors he considers "napakagaan katrabaho, sobrang professional at makatao sa lahat."
"Nakakagulat naman ito ng sobra," he said. “Maraming nagmamahal sayo. Mahigpit na pagyakap sa lahat ng mas malalapit pang kaibigan at kapamilya.”
Actor Kiko Matos said he couldn't believe that Sue is gone.
“Isa ka sa mga taong may taglay na liwanag na kahit anong kadiliman o bigat na pinagdadaanan ay kaya mong pagaanin at pasiyahin,” he said on Facebook.
“Salamat sa pagkatao mo Sue M. Prado. Hinding hindi kita malilimutan.”
Orlando Sol was similarly in shock over Sue’s passing. He said that they were set to have their first reading for a musical play today.
“Ang saya pa natin sa audition three days ago.. nag bibiruan pa tayo dalawa.. dahil magkakatrabaho ulit tayo dalawa and magka-partner pa tayo dito sa gagawin nating musical play. Excited pa naman ako dito sa musical play nating gagawin,” Orlando said.
“Mag pahinga ka na kapatid ko.. I will miss you Sue.. I love you kapatid ko..” he added.
Mercedes Cabral said on Facebook, “araw araw. lagi lagi toots.”
Sue's death was announced by her sister on Facebook on Thursday. No cause of death was announced.
The acclaimed indie film actress was best known for her roles in the films “GomBurZa,” “Barber’s Tales,” “Oro,” “Your Mother’s Son,” “Kantil,” and “Himpapawid (Manila Skies).”
She was also part of the GMA shows "Bolera” in 2022, “Princesa ng City Jail," and "Abot Kamay na Pangarap" in 2025.
Her awards include Best New Lead Actress at the 7th Urduja Film Festival for “AlmaAta,” Best Actress at the 5th Urduja Film Festival for “Caramel Child,” and Achievement in Acting at the Guam International Film Festival for “The Sister.”
Sue was named Best Supporting Actress at the 2010 Gawad Urian Awards for “Himpapawid (Manila Skies),” and received additional nominations, including at the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards in 2017 for “Area.” —JCB, GMA News
