Senate reso seeks to honor BINI for Coachella debut
Senator Bam Aquino has filed a resolution seeking to commend BINI for making history, as the first Filipino and P-pop girl group to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.
Under proposed Senate Resolution No. 370, Aquino said that BINI’s participation at Coachella 2026 “underscores the growing potential of the Philippine creative economy, demonstrating how Filipino talent can generate global demand, create economic opportunities, and strengthen the country’s presence in the global cultural and creative landscape.”
“BINI’s performance showcased Filipino pride through the use of traditional elements, including the salakot and tropical-inspired attire, as well as a fusion of contemporary and traditional styles in their costumes, music, and choreography,” the resolution read.
Aquino also said that the achievement of the eight-member group serves as inspiration to young Filipinos, “demonstrating that Filipino talent can thrive and gain recognition on the world stage through passion, discipline, and excellence.”
The senator also expressed optimism that BINI’s performance in the renowned festival will pave the continued growth of P-pop and open opportunities for more Filipino artists to showcase their talents and gain greater visibility in the global music industry.
BINI first performed in Coachella 2026 on April 10 (April 11 Philippine time), with their setlist including their hit songs, "Karera," "Salamin, Salamin," and "Pantropiko."
The group will also perform on the second weekend of Coachella on April 17 (April 18 Philippine time).
After Coachella, BINI will perform at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, California for Grammy Studios' "Global Spine Live!" series on April 21 (April 22 in the Philippines). — LA, GMA News
