Mark Herras explains viral video of breakdown
Mark Herras has explained the video of his emotional breakdown that went viral earlier this year and sparked widespread speculation online.
In an interview with “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Friday, the actor clarified that the incident had nothing to do with money or work. Instead it was rooted in a personal matter.
According to Mark, he shared the video as a way to release his emotions, emphasizing that he has been dealing with depression, and needed an outlet to avoid reaching a breaking point.
“Wala siyang koneksyon with money, with work. It’s a personal issue. Kailangan ko siyang i-post just to vent out. Kasi syempre I have depression, di ba. Paulit-ulit naman ako. So kailangan ko siyang ilabas,” Mark said.
Mark also said he didn’t post the video to gain sympathy from people.
“Hindi ko siya nilabas just to get sympathy from people, never naman ako nag-po-post ng ganyan talaga. I don’t really posts things like that. Pero recently wala akong nakakausap na talangang ‘uy may problema ako’ ganyan kasi nga busy ako sa work, busy ako maghanap ng trabaho, busy ako sa family,” he said.
According to Mark, the breakdown happened after a disagreement with his wife Nicole Donesa.
“Nagkaroon kami ng away ni misis. So mayroon kaming ugali na para hindi lumaki ang away, aalis na lang ako ng bahay para siyempre hindi kayo magbungangaan — andon ‘yung mga bata eh, kawawa naman,” he said.
While preparing to leave, he was suddenly overwhelmed with emotion. He recalled everyday moments with his children, bathing his eldest in the very same bathroom where he took the video, and being greeted by his youngest’s special smile whenever he comes home.
“Being a dad na alam kong mahihiwalay sa kanila nang hindi ko alam for [how many] days or weeks nag-break down ako Tito Boy. ‘Yun ang reason kung bakit umiyak na parang dapat ba hindi ako umalis ng bahay para di ko sila ma-miss pero paano ‘yung issue naming dalawa ng asawa ko na kapag hindi ako umalis bangayan bangayan na,” Mark continued.
He even shared how his wife also questioned why he posted the video, allowing Mark to explain that his action was not for public sympathy but a personal release.
“I don’t really want to get sympathy from people, kilala mo ako ang tagal ko na sa industriya, hindi ako humihingi ng ganyan sa tao,” Mark emphasized.
“Kailangan ko lang mag-vent out para hindi ako ma-lost, hindi ako sumabog,” he added.
Mark expressed gratitude to friends in the entertainment industry who reached out with concern, saying “I’m very thankful for them, and hindi ko na nga sila na-reply-an kasi siyempre noong time na ‘yon sobrang daming nangyari."
In February, Mark posted a video of himself breaking down in tears.
"Kulong sa Sistema," he wrote in the caption with an alien emoji.
Shortly after his post, Mark took to social media to call out those who are spreading fake news against him.
In a Facebook post, the actor belied the claims that he was crying due to being unemployed, saying that he was emotional because of a personal problem.
In his Friday interview with Tito Boy, he reiterated his frustration toward fake news peddlers.
Mark married Nicole in 2021. They have two children together.
