Miguel Tanfelix is the newest ambassador of GMA Network’s “Be Juan Tama” advocacy campaign.

Miguel’s participation in the campaign was announced during the "Be Juan Tama Talks" launch on Wednesday, which aims to encourage viewers to “Be Juan Tama” and choose content that fosters mental, emotional, and social growth.

In an interview with GMA News Online, Miguel admitted feeling some pressure as the newest campaign advocate.

“Siyempre kahit na paano may pressure siya kasi alam natin advocacy ito para sa mga kabataan. Pero 'yun nga eh, 'yung kailangan mo mas maging responsible bilang artisa at the same time bilang tao,” he said.

With his participation in the campaign, Miguel now joins GMA Network hosts Boy Abunda, Chris Tiu, and Dingdong Dantes, who aim to promote the value of learning, meaningful conversations, and discovery for Filipino viewers through their infotainment and talk shows "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," "i-Bilib," and "Amazing Earth."

Miguel, through his upcoming infotainment special “Planet XP,” aims to advance his advocacy to viewers, especially among the youth, by showing how different communities in the Philippines are deeply connected to nature.

“Magandang project 'to para ma-promote 'yung advocacy namin, 'yung ‘Planet XP.’ Kasi hindi lang siya basta pang bata, pwede rin siya pang buong pamilya actually. So maganda siya, 'yung project, para ma-promote ‘yun,” he said.

In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras" Wednesday, Miguel also shared that it was a meaningful experience discussing fake news and nation-building at the event with National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) Chairman Dr. Luis Gatmaitan.

“Masaya, kakaibang experience siya. Ang sarap lang na makakita ng mga estudyanteng willing matuto. Very passionate din na mang-inspire ng bata,” Miguel said.

Meanwhile, Gatmaitan said he is happy that such a platform that produces child-friendly shows exists.

“Natutuwa ako na may ganitong platform na nakakapag-produce din tayo ng child-friendly shows,” he said.

Present at the event were GMA Network Officer-in-Charge for Entertainment Group Cheryl Ching-Sy, GMA Network Vice President for Business Development Janine Piad-Nacar, officials from NCCT, and select broadcast journalism students.

Inspired by the gaming term “XP” or Experience Points, “Planet XP” will take viewers on immersive journeys across the Philippines, highlighting not only breathtaking destinations but also the country’s rich culture and diverse communities.

In this show, Miguel will showcase both the beauty of nature and the stories of the people who call these places home. The program will feature his meaningful encounters with various communities, including the Dumagat of Norzagaray, Bulacan; the Women Weavers of Cavinti, Laguna; the Ayta-Mag-Indi farmers of Floridablanca, Pampanga; the Mighty Mountaineers of San Jose, Tarlac; and grassroots windsurfers in Mabini, Batangas.

Planet XP” is a five-part program that will premiere on May 2, airing every Saturday at 6:30 p.m on GMA Network

Meanwhile, GMA Network launched the "Be Juan Tama" advocacy campaign last August as part of its 75th anniversary celebration.

It has partnered with several institutions for the campaign, such as the Anak TV Foundation, National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT),  World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines (WWF-PH), Office of Civil Defense, Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), and Philippine Women’s University. —CDC, GMA News
