Rhian Ramos reflects on pain, trauma through Mitena in 'Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre'
Rhian Ramos drew from themes of pain and healing as she offered advice for her character Mitena in “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre,” emphasizing that trauma should not define one’s identity.
On Thursday, Rhian joined her co-stars Bianca Umali, Angel Guardian, Faith Da Silva, and Kelvin Miranda for a media conference ahead of the show’s finale week.
She was asked to give a piece of advice for her role, whose journey was marked by emotional struggles.
“I think ‘yung best advice na mabibigay kay Mitena—the lesson that she really needs to learn is maraming mga bagay na nangyayari talaga sa buhay natin that can cause pain, trauma. Not everything that happens in your life is a great experience, but you can’t let pain define you,” Rhian said.
“I think the strength of a person is really how they get past experiences like that. ‘Yun ‘yung advice ko kay Mitena—don’t let it define you.”
Beyond her character’s emotional journey, Rhian also reflected on how “Sang’gre” has changed her perspective as an actress.
“My respect for the whole crew and staff is just growing everyday with the show because of the dedication that it took for everyone na para hindi bumitaw,” she said.
She described the production as demanding on multiple levels, from early preparations to the creation of elaborate sets, costumes, and storytelling.
“Kasi it really was a challenging show to do on so many different levels from even just preparing for it pa lang and building sets and creating these costumes and writing. Like how do you create a different world? That’s the challenge of this whole show,” she said.
Rhian also shared a lighter but meaningful change brought about by the series: being recognized as her character by younger viewers.
“And I guess because kids call me Mitena now, that changed. That’s a new thing for me,” she said.
Rhian entered the series as Mitena, the evil Ice Queen and the twin sister of Cassiopeia, played by Solenn Heussaff.
