Sienna Stevens hopes fellow kids learn from Ibyang in 'The Master Cutter'

Sienna Stevens is looking forward to how young viewers will connect with her character Ibyang in “The Master Cutter."

At Thursday’s media conference, the young Sparkle star shared how emotionally invested she is in portraying Ibyang, noting the character’s struggles have been deeply affecting even during the script-reading process.

“I admire the character of Ibyang. And I’d like to acknowledge the scriptwriters. They make sure that I’m already crying just reading my script. Like, I receive it, and tears are falling from my eyes. It makes me really cry,” Sienna said.

The 10-year-old actress explained Ibyang’s emotional journey has made the role especially impactful for her as a young actress, saying “I really feel Ibyang’s hardships she’s been going through, like for how she handles her feelings for longing for a family, to being patient to bullies makes me cry."

Beyond the emotional weight of the character, Sienna emphasized her hope that viewers, especially children, will learn from Ibyang’s approach to life’s difficulties.

“I hope kids my age can use Ibyang’s strategy. They have to watch for her character to slowly unfold. Ibyang is a very interesting character,” she said.

In 2024, Sienna was named Metro Manila Film Festival’s Best Child Performer for "Green Bones."

Directed by Dominic Zapata, “The Master Cutter” will star Dingdong Dantes, Max Collins, Paolo Contis, Jo Berry, Sienna Stevens, Shuvee Etrata, Charlie Fleming, Anthony Constantino, and more.

It will premiere on GMA Prime on Monday, May 11. It will also be streaming on Netflix. — LA, GMA News
