Jillian Ward hopes to do romcom, feel-good project next

Jillian Ward shared that while she remains open to different genres, she hopes her next project will be a romantic comedy or something more feel-good following her action series experience in “Never Say Die.”

During her guest appearance on “Usap Tayo” with Mark Salazar on Super Radyo DZBB on Thursday, Jillian said she currently prioritizes stories with substance regardless of genre.

“Ngayon, I'm 21 na, basta ang gusto ko lang po talaga ang gawin ay mga shows na may laman talaga ‘yung storya. Basta may meaning po eh, kesyo action po ‘yan or drama, basta meron pong pinaglalaban sa storya or meron pong matututunan ‘yung mga tao,” the Star of the New Gen said.

Still, the actress admitted she is leaning toward lighter material for her next role.

“Pero I think next ko pong gusto namang gawin is siguro romcom or something na feel-good po ‘yung show kasi, I mean, ang dami na nating problem ngayon sa country natin. So it would be nice na meron akong gawin na project na magpapasaya naman sa mga tao. Kesa paiyakin sila na drama,” Jillian said.

Jillian recently explored the action genre through “Never Say Die,” a change from the dramatic roles she has become known for.

When asked if she would miss doing action projects now that the series is nearing its end, the Sparkle Star said she would, though she acknowledged the physical demands that come with them.

“Mami-miss ko po siya, pero sa totoo lang po, super nakakapagod po siya. I mean, sanay po kasi ako na drama 'yung mga shows ko, so sanay po ako sa mga iyakan, 'yung mga sampalan sa eksena. Ta’s first time ko po kasing mag-action talaga na seryoso ‘yung action. So ngayon ko po naramdaman ‘yung grabe sobrang nakakapagod po pala ‘yung action,” Jillian said.

She also praised seasoned action stars for their endurance and discipline.

“Sobrang kudos po doon sa mga action stars. Ang galing po nila. Grabe 'yung stamina nila. But I'm so happy na binigyan po ako ng GMA ng gano’ng opportunity na na-experience ko siya sa ganitong age ko. And well, who knows? Baka po next show ko baka action ulit. So kailangan ng extra preparation,” she said.

Jillian currently stars in “Never Say Die” with David Licauco, Kim Ji Soo, Raheel Bhyria, and more.

She is also set to serve as a judge in “The Clash Teens.” —Carby Rose Basina/CDC, GMA News
