Alfred Vargas, wife Yasmine to pursue legal remedies following Rob Sy complaint dismissal

Quezon City councilor Alfred Vargas and his wife, Yasmine Vargas, intend to seek legal remedies following the dismissal of their complaint against couple Rob Sy and Juvelle Bacosa.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Thursday, Vargas said that while they have yet to receive the court's official decision, they respect the law and due process.

"In the same light, due process allows us to seek legal remedies," Vargas said.

“We will exert all available legal avenues to pursue justice for our child. Hindi pa po dito nagtatapos ang laban. Thank you for all your prayers," he added.

On April 13, Alfred and Yasmine Vargas filed a complaint before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Manila against actor Rob Sy and Juvelle Bacosa, the parents of a minor who allegedly bullied and abused their son during swimming training.

Following Alfred and Yasmine's complaint for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, Sy sent a statement to "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" denying the bullying allegations against his son.

In a resolution dated May 12, prosecutors said they found "no prima facie evidence with reasonable certainty of conviction" to indict the respondents Sy and Bacosa.
