GMA Network, Viva Music Group launch joint venture GMV Studios to boost OPM, Filipino artists

GMA Network and the Viva Music Group have officially joined forces to strengthen the Filipino music industry.

Called GMV Studios, the joint venture corporation between GMA Network and Viva is focused on elevating Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and Filipino artists on both the local and international stage.

Present at the GMV Studios signing event on June 5 at the Viva Entertainment headquarters were GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle GMA Artist Center First Vice President Joy Marcelo, Sparkle GMA Artist Center Assistant Vice President Tracy Garcia, Viva Group of Companies Chairman of the Board and CEO Vic del Rosario Jr., Vicor Music President and COO Antonio M. Ocampo, and Viva Records Corporation President Verb del Rosario.

Gozon-Valdes emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond a simple business agreement, noting that the two entertainment giants have established a joint venture corporation dedicated solely to nurture talent in the music industry.

“This partnership is really a long-term partnership because this is a joint venture corporation formed by GMA and Viva for artists who we will push and manage in the music industry,” she said.

Gozon-Valdes also expressed confidence in Viva's expertise in artist development, citing the company's decades-long track record in discovering and shaping some of the country's most successful performers.

“So we're very happy that Viva is a partner in this because we know the history of Viva, Viva Music, Viva Records in being able to spot and hone great artists and performers and we hope that through this joint venture we will be able to realize the potential of the artists that we have and also the artists that we both will sign up in this company,” she shared.

Meanwhile, del Rosario revealed that GMV Studios has already identified six talents as part of its initial roster, describing them as artists with strong potential to become major stars in the entertainment industry.

Among the artists unveiled under GMV Studios were Ysabel Ortega, Princess Aliyah, Jeff Moses, Vianna Ricafranca, Anthony Rosaldo, and P-pop girl group Dollipop.

“We saw some of the best artists that you can promote in the Philippines and as I start, we have six new talents that we have chosen and all of them are potential superstars,” he shared.

Per Del Rosario, the collaboration between GMA Network and Viva would allow artists to expand beyond music and build careers across multiple entertainment platforms.

“Some of them are already very popular and I think with this tie-up, we can strengthen their career and make them really popular and make them into a multimedia star from recording to the live theater to movies and eventually a lot of endorsements," he said.
