'Linda Walker' actress Zhang Yingfei now in PH to promote value of education
Zhang Yingfei, the actress who portrays Linda Walker in the vertical drama “The Heiress Who Won With Brains,” has arrived in the Philippines to promote the importance of education.
According to “24 Oras" Monday, the actress received a warm welcome at the airport and visited several schools in Manila. She also visited Fort Santiago in Intramuros and Chinatown in Binondo, Manila. Zhang likewise made a courtesy visit to Manila City Hall.
Zhang was invited to the country by the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) to promote the value of education.
“Today, or yesterday, just within these days, it’s China’s most awaited like exam week. It’s the one that you see in Linda Walker’s show,” Zhang's translator said.
“She also realized that today is the start of school year here in the Philippines, so she wants to let everybody know that we should all study hard and always try the best that we could do. And because education will always change if you study hard and your destiny may change with it,” she added.
Zhang rose to popularity in the Philippines through AI-dubbed Tagalog clips of the Chinese vertical drama “The Heiress Who Won with Brains,” which circulated widely on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and other short-video platforms.
The series follows Linda Walker, a young woman who overcomes poverty and hardship through intelligence and determination, themes that resonated strongly with Filipino viewers and sparked online discussions, memes, reaction videos, and motivational posts.
