Linda Walker actress Zhang Yingfei 'really happy' with first visit to PH

Zhang Yingfei is having a great time in her first visit to the Philippines!

The Linda Walker actress, accompanied by her translator Candice Tan, graced "Unang Hirit" on Tuesday.

She shared that upon arriving in Manila, many fans greeted her at the airport so she was "really happy."

After touring the city, Zhang attended the celebration of the 51st anniversary of Philippines-China Diplomatic Relations and Filipino-Chinese Friendship Day, so it's been a "very pleasant experience for her."

Zhang said she did not expect her work to go viral. She was surprised that people can relate with Linda Walker, and that "she was really happy."

During her UH visit, Zhang tried Filipino dishes and learned some Filipino words, including how to say, "Gising na, 'Unang Hirit' na!"

The UH Barkada also treated her to an advanced birthday celebration with cake, ahead of the Chinese actress' birthday on June 30.

Zhang rose to popularity in the Philippines through AI-dubbed Tagalog clips of the Chinese vertical drama “The Heiress Who Won with Brains,” which circulated widely on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and other short-video platforms.

The series follows Linda Walker, a young woman who overcomes poverty and hardship through intelligence and determination, themes that resonated strongly with Filipino viewers and sparked online discussions, memes, reaction videos, and motivational posts. —JCB, GMA News
