Derrick Monasterio shares lessons he learned from role in 'Ibarra...Ngayon'
Derrick Monasterio has had an enriching experience upon taking on the titular role in “Ibarra…Ngayon.”
In Nelson Canlas’ report in “24 Oras” on Saturday, the Sparkle star shared that this theatre comeback taught him discipline and hope.
“I guess as a better person kasi tinuruan ako nito ng disiplina, tinuruan akong mahalin ang aking bayan," he said.
"Kkasi sa mga past interviews lagi kong sinasabi na I feel hopeless sa mga nangyayari sa Pilipinas pero as Ibarra hindi dapat ganon. Dapat hopeful ka pa din,” he added.
Derrick made his theatre comeback in the musical play “Ibarra…Ngayon.”
Present in his theater comeback were his girlfriend, Elle Villanueva, fellow Sparkle stars Ysabel Ortega and Miguel Tanfelix, and Sparkle Assistant Vice President for Talent Management Tracy Garcia.
Directed by Frannie Zamora, the musical is based on Jose Rizal’s novel “Noli Me Tangere.”
Derrick currently stars in the Kapuso Afternoon Prime drama "Apoy Sa Dugo," with Elle and Ashley Ortega. It airs at 4:05 p.m. on GMA Network. —Jade Veronique Yap/JCB, GMA News
