Max Collins says long history with Dingdong Dantes makes on-screen connection easier in 'The Master Cutter'

Max Collins is crediting years of working with Dingdong Dantes for the natural chemistry they share in “The Master Cutter.”

In an interview with GMA News Online, Max said their familiarity with each other allows them to work through even the show's more demanding scenes with ease.

“It's easy for me to connect with Dong kasi I've known him for so long. And I've worked with him so many times. So, I know his process as an actor. It's easier for me to connect to him in comparison to someone I don't know,” the Sparkle star said.

Max also praised Dingdong for being a collaborative scene partner who prioritizes authenticity in every performance.

“He's such a generous actor and very collaborative. And he really cares about being truthful to the character. So, that's why it makes it so much easier,” she said.

She described Dingdong's acting as natural, saying she enjoys watching him improvise while staying true to his character.

“Something that I noticed lang, he's just very natural umarte. So, it's so nice to see him, like, ad-lib and really be in character,” she said.

Max added that Dingdong has developed distinct mannerisms for Atoy, including subtle touches that bring lightness to even the series's more serious moments.

“Now he has a lot of mannerisms because he's Atoy. Parang he tries to make everything light—I mean, if there's a serious scene, parang may mga nuances siya that make the character light. And I know that those are nuances of the character. So, it's nice to see him so invested sa character,” she said.

Directed by Dominic Zapata, “The Master Cutter” also stars Paolo Contis, Jo Berry, Sienna Stevens, Shuvee Etrata, Charlie Fleming, Anthony Constantino, and more.

It airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8:00 p.m. —CDC, GMA News
