Andrew Garfield describes Alex Eala as 'inspiring': 'Just beginning on her journey'

Andrew Garfield was among the stars who watched Alex Eala dominate Wimbledon 2025 champ Iga Swiatek in their Wimbledon Round of 32 clash.

In an interview with British Vogue posted on Instagram, the “Spider-Man” actor shared his thoughts on the match, praising the Filipina tennis star.

“It’s one of those special moments you get to share with an athlete who’s just beginning on her journey,” he said. “And it was really kind of inspiring, actually.”

During the match, Andrew was accompanied by his girlfriend, actress Monica Barbaro, and went viral for his Ralph Lauren outfit and his gorgeous hair.

Other stars spotted at Alex's Centre Court match against Iga included Tom Hiddleston, Anna Wintour, Simone Ashley, and Michaela Coel, among others.

Alex won against Iga 7-6(9), 6-2 and made history as the first Filipino to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam singles tournament at Wimbledon. She exited in the hands of Italian player Jasmine Paolini , 6-4 4-6 6-3.
