Glaiza De Castro will star in the upcoming GMA Pictures film "Amir" along with Dennis Trillo, Argus Aspiras, and Will Ashley.

In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," Thursday, the Sparkle actress said she is looking forward to do another film set in Mindanao after starring in "58th," animated documentary film about the Maguindanao Massacre.

"I think coming from '58th' din na parang it's a very tragic story but we always need to be reminded of what happened sa history," she said.

"So ito naman, very exciting kasi fantasy. So medyo mabigat pero galing 'to sa point of view ni Amir," she added.

"Amir" is one of the entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2026.

GMA Network Senior Vice President and GMA Films President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes said she is excited for another collaboration between director Zig Dulay and writers Ricky Lee and Anj Atienza.

The trio were behind the back-to-back Best Picture trophies won by GMA Pictures in MMFF 2023 and 2024 for the films "Firefly" and "Green Bones."

"Medyo nakakakaba kasi galing tayo sa 'Firefly' and then 'Green Bones' so 'yung ine-expect talaga ng tao 'yung quality na ibibigay natin this year ay napakaganda," Gozon-Valdes said.

"I'm really hoping na this is it, this movie will satisfy the expectations of everyone."

"Amir" is a collaboration between GMA Pictures, GMA Public Affairs, and Brightburn Entertainment, the production company owned by Dennis and his wife Jennylyn Mercado. —MGP, GMA News
