Rocco Nacino to star in Cinemalaya film 'Tirik'
Rocco Nacino will be headlining a film at the 2026 Cinemalaya Film Festival!
According to Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras" Thursday, the Sparkle artist will be starring in the drama-thriller "Tirik."
"Nakakatuwa na matuto ulit, malalim 'yung acting, marami akong natututunan kasi going into this film may sarili akong atake sa character ko, pero natuto ako in a way na ibang-iba 'yung kailangan ko pala ipakita dito sa pelikula na 'to," he said.
In "Tirik," Rocco will play the role of the priest Paring Bert. The story follows Paring Bert and taxi driver Santos, tackling themes of faith, guilt, redemption, and justice as they encounter the grim realities of Manila at the height of the war on drugs.
The film is directed by May-i Guia Padilla, with a screenplay by May-i and Charlson Ong.
Its cast also includes Floyd Tena, Chai Fonacier, Jess Mendoza, Glenn Sevilla Mas, Justin Mclaire, Brian Arda, Hershey Neri, Bor Ocampo, and Hope Summer Skye.
Meanwhile, other Kapuso artists starring in Cinemalaya entries this year are Ruru Madrid for "Kamay ni Bathala," Martin San Diego for "Tayo Lang Ang Nakakaalam," and Pokwang for "2 Valid IDs."
Cinemalaya 2026 is set for August 6 to 18. —CDC, GMA News
