Alden Richards joins 'Liwanag at Dilim' film as Jose Rizal

Alden Richards has joined the cast of "Liwanag at Dilim" as Dr. Jose Rizal.

The news was announced by his co-star, singer-actor Gerald Santos on Instagram.

According to Gerald, Alden entered production on the fourth week of filming. He also shared behind-the-scenes photos.

"Liwanag at Dilim" is an upcoming film about the life of Emilio Jacinto, known as the brains behind the Katipunan. He authored the Kartilya ng Katipunan, or the code of conduct of Katipunan members.

The film is written and directed by Dr. Antonino Rommel Ramilo, with Xiao Chua as the historical consultant.

More cast members include Angel Aquino, Nikko Natividad, Alex Medina, and Sid Lucero.

Alden previously portrayed Jose Rizal in the GMA Network series, " Ilustrado ." He is currently starring in " Love, Siargao " and is set to star in the upcoming medical series " Code Grey ."
