Boy Abunda promises to give Jobert Sucaldito proper burial

Boy Abunda shared more details about the death of veteran entertainment journalist Jobert Sucaldito on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Monday.

During the “Today’s Talk” segment, Tito Boy said that, according to Jobert’s son, Carlo Sucaldito, the late journalist passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Jobert had collapsed in his room and hit his head. His housemate found him unconscious and rushed him to the Philippine Heart Centerm where he was declared dead on arrival.

Per Tito Boy, Jobert had been hospitalized last month after doctors found two blocked arteries in his heart. Doctors recommended that Jobert be admitted to the intensive care unit, but he declined and said he could push through.

Tito Boy also shared his condolences on the show.

“We are mourning. He was very close to me. He was very, very protective of me and I will miss him,” Tito Boy said in English and Filipino. “I cannot find a more loyal friend than Jobert. I will always remember him."

Tito Boy also confirmed the news that Jobert had wanted Tito Boy to be informed of his death first.

"That is true. They informed me yesterday that he has passed away. It was very difficult. I'll just give context on why he wanted me to be the first to know. He would always tell me — he called me 'sir.' 'Sir, when I die, I want a proper burial,'" Tito Boy recalled Jobert telling him.

Turning emotional, the TV host promised to do just what Jobert wanted.

“I promise to do that. Sinabi ko [kay Carlo] na bibigyan natin nang maayos na paalam, maayos na libing, ang iyong ama," he said.

Jobert passed away on Sunday.

According to director Chaps Manansala, Jobert had been confined at Providence Hospital in Quezon City for nearly a month due to anxiety and sleep deprivation. —Nika Roque/CDC, GMA News
