Ruru Madrid says people can still change after cheating on their partner
Ruru Madrid opened up on his past mistake of cheating on his long-time girlfriend Bianca Umali.
During his guesting in "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, the Kapuso Primetime Action Hero was asked about his previous statement on the Kapuso game show "The People Have Spoken" that "anyone can still change and we will prove it."
Tito Boy asked if he had already proven it, and Ruru said he has done so.
"I think that's what I'm most thankful for Bianca, that even though I made a mistake during that time, I was only 20 years old—and I'm not saying that my youth was an excuse for the mistake I made," he said.
"But somehow, I also consider it a blessing in disguise because from that experience, I truly realized Bianca's value and how important she is to me," he added.
The Sparkle star shared that he and Bianca broke up for eight months after that but they eventually reconciled. The couple has now been together for eight years.
"She accepted me again," he said.
Because of his own experience, Ruru said he believes anyone can change regardless of the mistakes they have made.
"That's why I say that anyone can change. No matter what kind of mistake a person has made, they can still change," he said.
"Because, you know, our God knows how to forgive. And for me, Tito Boy, cheating is really a choice," he added.
The "Lolong" star also acknowledged that temptation exists not only in show business but in every industry, saying it is easy for anyone to cheat. However, it's up to the person if they will choose to do it.
And for him, he is committed to Bianca and their relationship.
"I think I just have a lot of things I hold on to now and in my life today that make me ask myself, 'Why would I do this?'" he said.
"First of all, Bianca is incredibly beautiful. And I don't think I'll ever find someone like her. I won't find another woman who has loved me the way she does," he added.
He also said that whenever he experiences temptation, he chooses to pray and remind himself to do what is right.
"I will hold on to that for the rest of my life, and whenever I will feel tempted, I will pray. I will pray and remind myself that I must follow the law," he said. By law, he was referring to Bianca, whom he previously called "Batas."
Ruru confirmed his relationship with Bianca in 2022. The couple has talked about marriage, with Ruru calling Bianca "The One."
