Michael V. lauds Alex Eala after historic Mubadala DC Open win

Michael V. expressed his pride and admiration for Alex Eala after creating a sketch of the Filipina tennis star.

In Aubrey Carampel’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the Kapuso Comedy Genius revealed that it took him just 15 minutes to complete the sketch because he was inspired by Alex's achievement.

“I actually cursed and cried because what she achieved is such a huge accomplishment, not just for herself, but for our country. It's really something to be proud of," Bitoy said in Filipino.

Per Bitoy, he and his wife used to play tennis, and Alex's success could encourage more Filipinos to take an interest in the sport.

The Kapuso star added that he admires Alex's sincerity whenever she thanks those who support her, especially Filipino fans.

"You can really feel her gratitude. It comes straight from the heart. Whenever she gives a speech, her appreciation for her supporters is wholehearted," he said.

Bitoy's digital artwork quickly drew praise from fans online, with many commending his artistic talent.

"That's all I wanted to say. Alex Eala, I'm so proud of you. What you're doing for the sport and for our country is incredible. It gives me goosebumps, that's how it feels," he said.

Eala made history after defeating Alycia Parks, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, in their Round of 64 match on Wednesday (Thursday, Philippine time). Her win booked her place in the third round of the Canadian Open.

She will team up with the tennis icon Venus Williams in the doubles draw of the Canadian Open on Thursday (Friday, Philippine time).
