Apl.de.Ap partners with GMA Music for upcoming 3-track EP
Filipino-American rapper and Black Eyed Peas founding member Apl.de.Ap is set to collaborate with several big-name Filipino artists for his upcoming songs under his official partnership with GMA Music!
According to Athena Imperial’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the multiple Grammy Award-winning artist has teamed up with GMA Music for a distribution deal covering his three-track EP.
Present at the contract signing were GMA Network Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and GMA Music Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Felipe S. Yalong, alongside GMA Music Managing Director Rene Salta.
“I think this is just the start of more collaboration that will happen. We are so glad that you have chosen us to be your distribution partner for your digital works. Rest assured that we will do our very best to ensure the success of our initial venture,” Yalong said.
Among the tracks included in the project is a song Apl.de.Ap recorded with Filipino rock icon Bamboo called “Why."
“For ‘Why,’ that's the one I collaborated with Bamboo and it's about my love for our country,” he shared.
“Beyond music and performing around the world, I always have our country in the back of my mind. How can I bridge my opportunity back home?" he said.
Despite the challenges faced by the Philippines, Apl.de.Ap said he is still proud to be Filipino.
“I've seen a lot of [flooding] all over the Philippines, so that's why it's important for these messages to be out there, to really call to action. I still love our country, and I'd like to help,” he said.
His advocacy also extends to environmental and agricultural initiatives. Inspired by the Black Eyed Peas' mantra of “practice what you preach,” Apl.de.Ap said he is looking forward to spearheading activities across the country.
“I'm really excited about the agricultural program that I'm doing as well, tree planting throughout the Philippines,” he said.
"I think that would help our farmers and families and communities. So beyond music, I've been doing agriculture and different collaborations," he added.
Apl.de.Ap, alongside his fellow Black Eyed Peas, performed in the Philippines in August 2025.
The group is famous for the hit songs “Bebot,” “I Gotta Feeling,” “Pump It,” and “Where Is the Love?”
