Sugarpop member and ‘DOTA O Ako’ singer Vanessa Blanca dies at 30

Vanessa Blanca, a member of the pre-teen singing group Sugarpop and singer of the song “DOTA O Ako,” has died at the age of 30.

On Facebook, Vanessa’s cousin, Ivy Ann Salaum Jubelag, announced her passing.

“It is with the heaviest heart that I share the heartbreaking news of the passing of my beloved first cousin and little sister, Vanessa Blanca Quillo Rangadhol, who tragically passed away today, August 19, 2026, following an accident at the condominium where she was staying in Manila,” Ivy wrote.

In a separate Facebook post, Ivy said Vanessa sustained a severe traumatic brain injury that resulted in an internal brain hemorrhage after an accidental fall.

She said Vanessa was getting dressed in the bathroom when she tripped and fell, hitting her face and head on the floor.

“Emergency assistance was immediately requested, and an ambulance was called. However, after approximately 15 minutes of waiting, the ambulance had not yet arrived. As her condition required immediate medical attention, her companions made every effort to bring her to the nearest hospital using a wheelchair,” Vanessa said.

A public viewing will be held on August 21 at 6 p.m. at Loyola Memorial Chapels in Commonwealth, Quezon City.

Vanessa was born on December 6, 1995.

She was a member of Sugarpop alongside Julie Anne San Jose, Rita Daniela, Enzo Almario, and Cholo Bismonte.

Her song “DOTA O Ako” with Aikee is a catchy piece about a man’s dilemma in choosing between his girlfriend and his favorite game.
