Fil-Am porn star: I'm more than eye candy

Davao-born Filipino-American Melody Damayo admits that her popularity among adult film fans as the sultry Mimi Miyagi has made her dream of becoming governor of Nevada closer to reality. A "veteran" of over 80 adult flicks, Damayo told Newsbreak magazine that "a girl only has three or four years of being really hot in the porn business ... I am one of the lucky ones who can continue to live off of it." However, this 33-year-old Damayo, who stretches the tape at 36DD-size breasts, said she has much to offer to the Nevada voter other than serving as eye candy to her fans. "As a single mother, I am really concerned about the state of Nevada. The state is growing really fast and law enforcement and the school system are not keeping up with the needs of the people," said Damayo. Public service seems to be far-fetched for this Republican woman once branded by adult industry media as "a frenetic sexual animal." However, Damayo said she is fit to serve as governor because she already operated a number of companies including "one of the first Web sites devoted to a porn star more than 10 years ago." Voters should learn, Damayo said, to accept her past in pornography, which she leftl in September 2003 with her final film appropriately entitled, Happy Ending. 'FORCEFUL' Newsbreak magazine described Damayo as "a forceful, well-spoken Filipino-American, a Republican and candidate for governor of Nevada who favors getting tough on crime, upgrading schools, and improving the state's infrastructure to battle terrorism." In her website www.mimi4governor.com, Damayo discuss a spectrum of issues, including business, anti-crime and economic matters. Her 10-point platform advocates, among others, the legalization of strip clubs inside hotels across the state, the removal of newly added business tax laws on entertainers and anti-stalking legislature enforcement. Other matters that take centerstage in her campaign are: tougher laws on domestic violence abusers, reduce waiting time processing police reports for victims of crime, tougher laws on domestic violence abusers, eradication of political corruption and judicial activism, promotion of free speech, decrease pump prices and incidence of youth gang violence. Born and raised by immigrant parents, Damayo once dreamed of achieving success in gymnastics while she was in high school. While working three jobs at age 18, Damayo answered an ad for nude modelling and soon her adult film stardom took off--or so it seemed. She went through a divorce and "financial hardship" in 2001, then three years later filed for bankruptucy. She has since set up her apparel, art sculpture and paintings company, Mimi Art Wear, and made some appearances on stage.-GMANews.TV
