Daughter recalls Tiya Dely's last moments on air
MANILA, Philippines - Despite suffering a stroke during her radio program last weekend, veteran broadcaster Fidela "Tiya Dely" Magpayo practiced what she preached, that "the show must go on." Magpayo's daughter Deedee recalled Tuesday her mother's final moments on air, when she insisted on continuing with her program until it was almost midnight. "Thumbs up pa si Mama, sabi niya (My mother was still giving the thumbs up and saying), 'Don't mind me,'" she said in an interview on dwIZ radio. At the time, she said it was past 11 p.m. and her mother was informed that a friend had suffered a heart attack during a concert. She said her mother sighed and showed signs of pain. At the time, she said a doctor who was a guest on the show tried to bring her to the hospital but she wanted her program to go on. It was only at 11:45 p.m. when she agreed to be brought to the Manila Doctors Hospital. "At 11:45 tinanong uli, Tiyang dalhin na kita sa ospital. Doon lang pumayag (At 11:45 p.m. the doctor asked her again to bring her to the hospital. That was the only time she agreed)," she said. - GMANews.TV
