"Parang na-outgrow na namin yung isa't isa." Kapuso star and Regal baby Jennica Garcia openly admitted that she no longer feels love for ex-flame and fellow GMA-7 talent Mart Escudero. "We both tried to work things out. Kaya lang po, wala na po talaga, e," she frankly told the entertainment press on Thursday, December 3, during her solo press conference for the "Lamang Lupa" episode of
Shake Rattle and Roll XI. This horror film is one of Regal Films' official entries to the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival. It also produced the family drama Mano Po 6: My Mother. The 19-year-old actress also revealed that after her breakup with Mart, the love that she feels for him now is only that of a friend. "Iba na rin po yung priorities namin pareho. Tapos napansin namin na mas okay kami na magkaibigan. Mas masaya, ganyan," she said. Although romantic links have been severed by the former couple, their on-screen ties have remained the same. In "Lamang Lupa," Jennica is involved in a love triangle with Mart Escudero and Kapamilya star Rayver Cruz. Also in the cast are Iya Villania, Bangs Garcia, and twin brothers Dominic and Felix Roco. Having worked with him in
Shake, Rattle, and Roll, how does she find Rayver Cruz? "Mabait," answered Jennica. When asked to compare the Kapamilya star to Mart, she replied, "Pareho lang. Kasi parehong maputi. Parehong matangkad. Pareho lang." During the press conference, Jennica said that she's too young for a serious relationship right now. "Na-realize ko rin, since nagkaroon na rin ako ng boyfriend, na hindi pa ako ready. I'm still young. Totoo lahat ng sinabi ni Mama [Jean Garcia], ni Papa[Jigo Garcia], na akala mo sinasabi lang nila kasi magulang mo sila, kasi gusto nila sa kanila ka lang. Pero totoo pala talaga." Now that she's single, Jennica said she is very much open to dating, but she restricts her options to group dates. Jennica also shared that her suitors are limited to the non-showbiz cluster, and that no one from the industry has expressed interest in courting her. Who then is her ideal man? "Siyempre gusto ko kasing cute ng Papa ko. Kasing pagiging mapagmahal ng Papa ko sa aming mga anak niya. 'Tsaka sana kapareho ko, may trabaho. Tsaka kailangan magkakaintindihan kami, emotionally, spiritually. Tsaka dapat family-oriented," she enumerated.
NO SEXY IMAGE. For Jennica, having a sexy image is not an option. "Wala po, wala po," was her firm reply when the entertainment press asked her about a possible shift into a more mature image. "Yun talaga yung masasabi kong wala talaga," she replied, adding that several offers have been presented to her before. "Kaya lang, hindi po talaga, e, kasi baka atakihin po sa puso yung Papa ko, may hika pa yun," she answered, referring to her father and former actor Jigo Garcia, who is currently running as a Quezon City councilor. She also said that she's heard rumors about her having a role in the Sine Novela
Ina, Kasusuklaman Ba Kita?, but no formalities have been made so far. Until then, she won't feel so confident about anything, said Jennica. There is buzz that the soap opera involves Jennica starring opposite her mother, Jean Garcia. As to this, Jennica said that she can only pray for this project. "Sana mapunta sa amin ng mama ko para maiba naman, drama naman." If ever she and her mother land this project, Jennica said that she will have to take the consequences of acting alongside her mother. "Anlakas kaya manampal no'n!" she laughed. She also shared that Jean hasn't physically hurt her ever, but if the scene requires it, she said she will have to concede.
BIRTHDAY AND HOLIDAY PLANS. Jennica will be turning 20 years old this December 26. PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked her about her birthday plans. "Dinner lang with family," she replied. "Okay na yun sa akin kasi 20 na rin po ako, e. Alangan naman mag-celebrate pa ako nang may mga balloons!" she laughed. She added that will be spending her birthday with her parents, Jean and Jigo, whom she is able to bring together during her birthdays. "In good terms naman po sila," she added. What does she want to receive from Jean this Christmas? "Nagpaparining ako kay Mama na gusto ko ng Blackberry," she happily narrated. Jennica said that she's careful not to spend her money, and that she tends to be exceptionally frugal at times. On buying an expensive Blackberry with her own money, she said, "Gumagana pa naman 'tong cell phone ko, nakakatawag pa naman 'to, nakaka-text pa naman 'to, nakakapag-browse pa naman 'to ng Internet, puwede pa 'to." It is for this reason that she directed the wish to her mom. "Ma, ang ganda talaga ng Blackberry, 'no? Blackberry mo nga ang ganda, 'e," she revealed how she let her mother Jean know about her Christmas wish. "Siyempre bilang mama ko siya, gets na niya 'yon." -
